Ian has over 25 years of experience as a Consultant Planner and Architectural Interior Designer.

I worked with Ian on the fit out of Homelet’s new headquarters in Lincoln. Ian and his team have a passion for great design and a particular eye for detail. In addition to their technical skills, Ian’s team were always professional and amicable and I look forward to an opportunity when we can work together again.

Ian established his consultancy within Amalgam in 1999. He specialises in workplace design, branding and strategic / space planning.

Amalgam is a group of independent architects and designers who operate collaboratively. We work with a network of trusted consultants which gives us access to a range of expertise in related creative sectors and allows us to tailor our project teams to suit our client’s requirements.

Established in 1993, we have earned a reputation for high quality work. We work across the Architecture, Interior, Product and Graphic Design disciplines in various specialist areas including commercial, educational, retail, restaurant and residential sectors. We believe that our experience in one sector informs and enhances our work in another.

The partners at Amalgam are highly experienced designers and architects who design practical and innovative schemes. We aim to produce coherent, thoughtful and appropriate spaces which are enjoyed by those who use them. Our approach is always to allow the design aesthetic to evolve from the practical brief and aspirations of the client. From concept through to completion we are customer focused and client centered.

Ian has worked extensively overseas, undertaking projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South and South East Asia. And has worked in both public and private sectors building up long-term relationships with many of his clients.

Prior joining Amalgam Ian spent 9 years at The British Council. As Head of Architecture & Design in the Global Estates Team, he was responsible for leading design policy within the organisation, establishing brand and design strategies for the Architecture, Exhibition and Graphic Design departments. He designed, commissioned and / or managed the design of projects throughout their estate of over 600 premises in 111 countries around the world.
